Contest winner 2021
For 4 weeks the Brüggemann Lab used the CQ1 Confocal Imaging Cytometer to investigate the signaling dynamics induced different viruses (hepatitis E virus and 229E coronavirus).
The LAC Young Scientist Imaging Assay Jumpstarter Contest is a reoccuring event, usually around the end of the year. The projects will be carried out at the beginning of the following year.
We want to assist in jumpstarting your cell science!
You are a young scientist, postdoc or junior professor in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland? You are working on an exciting cell biology project but do not have access to confocal high content imaging? The imaging part is missing for a step forward or your next publication?
Submit your imaging assay idea in our contest and win access to high quality results.
You bring your idea, your biology and your labware, we bring our best fitting tool for the purpose, if needed even one of the hottest high content imagers the market has to offer, plus the software and support it takes to turn images into real data.
Due to our new portfolio additions, we have introduced some categories (unlike in previous editions of the contest) for which you can apply. Obviously, the prices correspond to the category, and you may apply for more than one if it fits with your science.
You are regularly monitoring your cell culture for proliferation, expression, apoptosis, organoid formation, or other cellular assays and are after an efficiency tool to turn images into real data.
Share your project and how your work would benefit, and win up to 2 weeks in your lab with the new EOS imager.
You have routine counting to do and the manual counting lacks precision and reproducibility or is simply too tedious.
Describe your issue and win a week in your lab with the new Halo Counter.
You may have interesting organoid models you always wanted to analyze in 3D high content, or you are looking at bacteria entering mammalian cells, or even a virus/cell interaction model requiring confocal resolution and speedy imaging. Maybe your cells are really sensitive and you need to observe them over a long time...
Send us your thoughts on your project and win up to 4 weeks with the Yokogawa CQ1 confocal imaging cytometer in your lab
Your goal is the spatial analysis of a significant number of protein markers on tissue samples and you have been struggling with assay setup, time to result, sample integrity, or simply reagent cost in the past.
Share your project and win a detailed analysis with our experts on how this specific project can be done with the Orion Platform, together with a serious plan of the time needed, the potential cost involved for the sample volume and markers in question. And no, on this one, regrettably, free instrument time in your lab is technically not feasible, but it is a high value price nevertheless.

The Stanganello lab at TRON-Mainz was among the winners of 2021's Contest, and the data generated with the CQ1 were so convincing that they managed to secure the funding for their own instrument!
Eliana Stanganello talks about her participation in the contest.
